A graduate of Cambridge University, Jeremy qualified on 16/09/1996 and began his career at city law firm, Fox Williams. Jeremy next joined FTSE 100, IT multi-national, Logica PLC, where he ultimately managed Logica’s legal affairs in 44 jurisdictions and participated in numerous acquisitions, including the £876m acquisition of VM Data and the £631m acquisition of Unilog. Jeremy helped conclude multi-million-pound IT contracts in the outsourcing, telco and banking sectors in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Jeremy also managed Logica’s IT portfolio and regulatory interests around the world, successfully resolving major litigation in the US.
Jeremy is an experienced Corporate lawyer, General Counsel and English qualified Solicitor with over 25 years’ experience and a proven track record in senior legal roles with MNCs and SMEs in the UK and around the world. Jeremy is commercially orientated and dedicated to enabling business; specialising in: M&A, cross jurisdictional transactions, TMT and IT outsourcing, and asset backed finance.
Jeremy’s core skill is to enable business growth. Jeremy does this by providing pragmatic input into growth and investment strategy; using his extensive experience and commercial acumen to efficiently and pragmatically negotiate agreements of all sizes, especially in the IT, Telco, green energy, recruitment and hospitality sectors; and by supporting business transformation, especially from Capex to SaaS, by providing the terms of business and corporate structure which enables transformation.
Jeremy was responsible for Logica’s legal affairs for almost 10 years until in 2009, he joined leading port operator, Gulftainer in the UAE, as General Counsel and helped that company double in turnover in just over two years through acquisitions in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Brazil and Russia.
On returning to the UK in 2015, Jeremy consulted to some of the UK’s leading technology companies, including Vodafone and BT. In 2016, Jeremy became General Counsel to US owned, market leading hospitality technology provider, Guestline Limited.
In 2019, Jeremy co-founded, the specialist legal consultancy, Espley Consulting and Negotiation Limited (EC&N). EC&N specialises in helping U.K headquartered MNCs to invest overseas; and from 2023, Jeremy worked with boutique legal consultancy, Seven Legal.
In 2024, Jeremy joined Kingsley Wood, bringing with him his wealth of experience in M&A, international investment, cross-border transactions, asset-backed finance, TMT and IT outsourcing.
Completed USD 30M sale of UK based direct booking provider for hospitality, to US based private equity company.
Revising the terms of business for a leading UK IT provider in the hospitality sector to enable transformation from capex and premise-based company to a cloud and SaaS based business.
Closed EUR 10m sale of UK based producer of innovative AI solutions for training surgeons, to German/US based pharmaceutical MNC.
Concluded GBP 8M sale of IT provider and SI, to leading UK based rival.
Acting as General Counsel, Middle East to Europe’s leading asset-backed finance MNC.
Supporting a UK based PLC in its international expansion programme in both India and Australia, providing strategic input, negotiating commercial agreements, forming local entities and fulfilling local regulatory and legal requirements.
Providing compliance advice, especially in relation to Data Protection, to a UK company engaged in the construction of national infrastructure in a sensitive power generation sector.
Dividing his time between his houses in India and the United Kingdom, Jeremy is a keen horseman and rides out daily when in his native Shropshire. Jeremy is also an experienced open water swimmer and when living in Kuala Lumpur, completed a crossing of Tasik Kenyir, the largest body of fresh water on the peninsular. Jeremy funded his legal studies by teaching English as a foreign language and when living in Malaysia, taught English on a volunteer basis on behalf of the British Council, to young people in army run summer camps in the Malaysian rainforest; in return, the army taught Jeremy jungle craft and survival which remain passions of his to this day.
