James qualified as a lawyer in 2012 after undergoing training with Trowers & Hamlins in London and abroad. Prior to this, and from 1997, James was employed by Notting Hill/Genesis, a large Housing Association based in London. Starting as a Customer Services Officer James enjoyed repeated promotion becoming Housing Services Manager responsible for many thousands of properties in the London area; he had a large operational budget, coupled with the direct management of many teams of staff.
As a lawyer, James has operated for many years at Partner level and has significant experience of all Commercial Property and related development matters, including within the field of GP Primary Care.

James is a dedicated and professional 12 years PQE Commercial Property and Development Solicitor with experience of residential and commercial property and public and private sector property development work. Substantial experience of building and developing sustainable working relationships with clients with many years’ experience of and a commitment to customer and client care. James has a keen interest in new business development and marketing. He previously worked in partnership with numerous London Local Authorities including Westminster, Barnet, Islington, Newham, and Harrow. Formerly an elected local government Councillor and member of the executive team with responsibility for housing services and personnel.
James can provide advice on all aspects of Commercial Property and Development work, in plain English and in a manner that clients can understand and therefore appreciate. His work includes advising on:
· Leasehold and freehold sales and purchases;
· Lending and other bank finance arrangements and agreements;
· Lease renewals and surrenders;
· Landlord and Tenant work;
· Advice on the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 and serving of Notices;
· Development deals including Options, Conditional Contracts and Overage;
· Primary Care sector deals;
· Dilapidations;
· Advice on the GP Premises Costs Directions 2024.

- Advising a large Tech Company on a complex sale and leaseback arrangement;
- Numerous day-to-day landlord and Tenant matters;
- Advising a large medical group on decanting from, and sale of, multiple properties in order to take up occupation in large purpose built medical centre development;
- Acting for a developer on the acquisition of Development land with complex planning matters; and
- Advising on grant agreements and other funding regimes with numerous lenders.
Interest
about me
James enjoys being outdoors with his children including camping, cycling, paddle boarding, fishing and playing golf and football. James is trying to learn to play snooker (and is making minor improvements!). James is an avid reader and enjoys factual history and historic novels. James dabbles and is active in local politics, from time to time, when time allows.
